Web Summit is one of the largest tech conferences around the globe. It’s different from most other tech-focused conferences. For example, if you visit the WeAreDevelopers conference, you will find it way more technical – speakers are more focused on builds than concepts, technical solutions are prioritized over vague ideas of the future and you will take away more technical insights than inspirational or passionate ideas. Web Summit, though, brings together all kinds of people working in the tech field – from founders to marketers, from investors to programmers, consultants, designers.
The event has a unique vibe of “something big is happening here”, everybody is super pumped to take away as much as possible from the conference. Just by entering the main event area and being surrounded by more than 75,000 like-minded people, you can already feel the hustle-spirit flowing through you.
The organizers put the main idea along the lines of: “Web Summit brings together people and companies redefining the global tech industry” and we couldn’t agree more. First and foremost the conference is created to inspire you, to spark new ideas, new connections, partnerships, acquisitions and collaborations.
Always dreamed to meet the CEO of Wikipedia? Come to Web Summit and listen to her note about the past, the present and future of knowledge sharing. Want to learn more about what companies like Google, Microsoft, Huawei or Booking.com are working on? Come visit Web Summit. Want to be the first to know what new regulations EU is planning to roll out? You get the point.
Besides meeting the most famous tech industry people and learning strategy and tactics from the most brilliant leaders from around the globe, you will also find the most crazy and innovative ideas here as well. From creating robots that can detect emotions to selling falling stars. No idea is too big for Web Summit.
Here at Adeo Web we strive to move forward, work with the latest technologies and concepts, innovate as much as we can every single day. Web Summit is the perfect place to both learn new ideas and showcase them. In exchange you will receive priceless feedback from the best minds in the tech industry. If you can cut through all the pleasantries and formalities, you will be surprised to find technological and business insights that will bring you value for years to come. Plus, it’s always a good idea to test out whether your innovations are relevant in today’s tech landscape and business world. And that’s exactly why we came to visit Web Summit.
This year our team was showcasing the new technology we have implemented, called PWA or Progressive Web App. It’s a front end solution that can be adapted to any eCommerce platform – Magento, BigCommerce, Shopify or any other (as long as it has an API we can connect to it). When adapted, this technology provides you an amazingly fast website (for our demo shop we’ve managed to get the result of 99 for desktop and 97 for mobile on Google Page Speed Insights). Not only that, but it also works as an Android AND iOS application, meaning that you only have to develop and support one solution instead of three (web, Android, iOS).
PWA works offline and provides your users an interrupted shopping experience even if their device loses internet connection. This is huge, since even one-second delay in eCommerce results in 11% decrease in page views, 7% less conversions and 11% decreased customer satisfaction. Complete disconnect could lose you even the most motivated customer. Allowing her to continue shopping even without an internet connection is a complete game-changer in eCommerce.
Moreover, PWA allows you to send push notifications to your customers – anything from reminders about abandoned shopping carts to flash sales. This can increase customer engagement as much as 80%. And the app is 180 TIMES lighter than a regular native iOS app.
Just as predicted, Adeo PWA was a huge hit at Web Summit. Not surprisingly, as the technology was initially conceptualized by Google and expanded by Adeo Web to check all the marks and solve all the pain points for virtually any eCommerce business. We’re happy with the countless connections made and hopefully it will grow out to strong partnerships for the long-term future.
We might be repeating ourselves but… Web Summit is definitely a place to be. Even if it’s just once – for anyone working in the tech field visiting this conference is a must. Trust us, it will unlock the potential, creativity and motivation that you didn’t even know you had.
